Triathlon begins in the mind – and in the water

triathlon swimSEMINAR 2026

2026 will be a strong triathlon year. The scene is more lively than ever, and the motivation of many athletes seems to have reached a new peak after the challenging previous years. And yet one constant remains: For many triathletes, swimming is and remains the biggest challenge.

It is by no means the most physically demanding part of the race. Rather, it is the unknown, the uncontrollable, the unfamiliar. The start in open water, the jostling, the limited visibility, breathing under stress. All this ensures that swimming in triathlon becomes a mental feat for many.

Our goal for the 2026 season is once again clear: We want to dispel once and for all the myth that swimming is simply part of life and has to be survived somehow. Instead, we show how you can actively use this section of the race for yourself. Because if you glide through the water calmly and in a controlled manner, you start the competition in a completely different way.

This starts with the right technology and ends with a well-thought-out strategy for open waters. Those who can assert themselves in the group, keep their orientation and breathe efficiently not only save energy, but also gain self-confidence. And this is just as noticeable in the transition zone as it is on the next few kilometers on the bike.

Our swimSEMINAR Triathlon was developed exactly for these challenges. It offers ideal conditions to improve your own technique and train important elements for the competition. In addition to targeted technical content, the program includes video analysis, theory units and specific exercises for orientation, breathing and behavior in starting situations. Even if no real open water is simulated, the participants are given tools that make the difference in the race.

The 2026 season offers the perfect stage for this. The DATEV Challenge Roth on July 5 remains a classic for all long-distance fans. The Ironman Hamburg with swimming in the Alster is set (June 7, 2026), as is the Suzuki World Triathlon Hamburg (July 11-12), where professionals and age groupers meet. Those who prefer smaller, perhaps even more familiar competitions will find great alternatives at regional sprint and Olympic distances – for example in Heilbronn on 14 June, at Lake Tegernsee (5 July) or around Lake Wörthsee (26 July).

After the 2025 Ironman World Championships were held in separate formats – the men in Nice, the women in Hawaii – the pros will return to a joint event in Hawaii from 2026. A dream destination for many, but also an occasion to take a holistic view of one’s own performance. Especially those who have this goal in mind should work on the first discipline at an early stage in order to fully exploit their own potential.

So whether your goal is a big name or a quiet lake, we’re ready for this season. And we’re ready to get you through the water strong.

Review: swimCAMP Mallorca 2025 – Sun, team spirit, and pure training

swimCAMP 2025 10

From October 12 to 19, 2025, more than 45 athletes traveled to Mallorca. Despite storms and delayed arrivals, the mood was excellent from the start. A week full of motivation, team spirit, and energy best describes this year’s swimCAMP.

We stayed at the beautiful Universal Hotel Marqués, a 4-star hotel right by the sea. Perfect location, short distances, and a relaxed atmosphere. Training took place at the BEST Centre in Colonia de Sant Jordi. The 50-meter facility offers top conditions for swimmers and triathletes. The town itself delights visitors with its small cafés, fine sandy beaches such as Es Trenc, and a peaceful Mediterranean atmosphere that attracts many participants every year.

The camp focused on intensive training sessions, technical work, and lots of fun. Participants in the Gold Camp completed nine training sessions per week, while those in the Silver Camp completed five. In addition to performance-based workouts, there were video analyses, theory sessions, and individual corrections. The aim was to work together to set new goals, refine technique, and make progress visible. As always, the camp was aimed at swimmers and triathletes of all performance levels, from ambitious beginners to experienced athletes.

The coaching team consisted of Matze, Jörn, Birgit, and our physiotherapist Elli. Elli took care of warm-ups, cool-downs, and individual support, which was greatly appreciated by everyone who needed to recover after intensive training sessions. Birgit brought calm and flexibility to the program with her yoga class on the off day, while Jörn explored the open sea with around 15 swimmers. Sunshine, 25 degrees, and ideal training conditions made the week perfect.

Many of the participants had been to the camp before, which made the atmosphere particularly warm and friendly. New faces were quickly integrated, creating a harmonious, motivated group that made the training camp something very special.

We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who participated. It was a week filled with training, laughter, sunshine, and genuine team spirit.

And best of all: in 2026, we will be celebrating 10 years of swimCAMP Mallorca with an anniversary edition.

The next camp with available spots will take place from October 11 to 18, 2026. The May camp (May 17 to 24, 2026) is already fully booked.

swimCAMP Mallorca 2025 – A week that lasts

mallorca swim camp 2025 01

What remains after seven days of training camp? Certainly a few tired shoulders – but above all a lot of impressions, progress and a good feeling.

At swimCAMP Mallorca 2025, you could feel exactly that: a group of athletes who met as equals. Different backgrounds, different goals – but a common attitude. From day one, there was respect, openness and an atmosphere in which you could feel comfortable. We trained, laughed and learned together. Everyone at their own pace, but no one alone.

The training was challenging, but fairly dosed. It wasn’t about times or comparison – but about technique, water awareness and individual development. The video analyses helped many athletes to better understand movement sequences. Small changes had a big impact – often surprisingly quickly. And in between, there was always time to ask questions, try things out and reflect.

There was just as much to experience around the water: The free day was used in a variety of ways – whether it was for sporting activities or simply to get your feet wet in the sand. In the evenings, the group often met on the roof terrace – with good food, relaxed conversations and an atmosphere that became more informal from day to day.

The coaching team – Matze, Katha, Jörn and Elli – brought a lot of experience with them and clearly enjoyed making the right adjustments over the course of the week. Watching the athletes’ progress was great fun for everyone in the team.

In the end, the impression remains of a week in which a lot happened – in and around the water. With athletes who worked hard, supported each other and also enjoyed being together outside of training.

Thanks to everyone who took part – for their commitment in the water, their attention during training and the good energy in the group.
In the fall, we’re off to Mallorca again. Maybe we’ll see each other again.
